“TRAME & TRASPARENZE”
engaging paths in the Milan of the EXPO
Opening 6 May at 5 p.m.
“Trame & Trasparenze”, the new (Artépore®) creations by Milanese artist Stefania Scarnati, will go on display on 6 May in Milan at the Miroglio Piazza della Scala in association with the Zonta Alessandria and Zonta Milano Sant’Ambrogio clubs.
Including over 40 works, the exhibition format is completely original and unique (the works are displayed next to the clothes, even placed on the same stands) and highlights the similarity between the lightness of the clothes and the weaves represented in the original graphics.
The artist describes her creations thus: “Light fabrics, gauzes and tarlatan covered with ink and passed through the heavy rollers of a press leave indelible imprints like important stages of an engaging and reassuring journey. I want to achieve lightness without, however, taking anything away from the ‘weave’ or plot of the story, which must remain free and open to all types of interpretation”.
The “Miroglio Piazza della Scala” concept store is an excellent location for these works. This space usually used for the presentation of Miroglio Group fashion collections (Elena Mirò and Caractère in particular) on this occasion becomes the showcase for an event that brings together style and art in a single venue.
The Zonta Alessandria and Zonta Milano Sant’Ambrogio clubs actively contributed to the event, joining Stefania Scarnati on this artistic adventure that she summarises as follows: “I accepted this opportunity with great enthusiasm thanks to the encouragement of the Miroglio Group, which made its prestigious space available, and also due to the support shown to me by the Zonta Clubs. To celebrate this important event, I will be exhibiting my etched engraving “Nuova Linfa per Milano” (‘New Lymph for Milan’) for the first time which, with text by Elena Federici Ballini, has been released as a limited edition Art Book produced in just 20 copies. Dedicated to Zonta Milano Sant'Ambrogio, the service and advocacy club of which I am honoured to be a member, the work depicts twelve Milanese monuments gathered under the leafy branches of the Tree of Life, emphasising the role of art as a regenerating and vital lymph for the city of EXPO 2015”.
Open to visitors at the Miroglio Piazza della Scala concept store (Via Verdi 2, corner of Via Manzoni) during business hours, the exhibition will run until 12 May 2015.
The term Artépore® (from the Greek pore, poréia, meaning path) was patented by Stefania Scarnati to describe all of her works.
