The Miroglio Group’s commitment to sustainability has been extended to the Logistics Hub in Pollenzo (CN). A spin-off of the Group dedicated to supply chain management and a benchmark of integrated logistics in the textile and clothing sector, M2LOG has chosen the innovative Gewiss Smart  technology to renovate the lighting systems in its own fashion distribution hubs in Pollenzo. Together with the hubs in Castagnole delle Lanze (AT) which focus on textiles and yarns, the two centres cover a surface area of 90,000 square metres.
With an annual distribution of 20 million items of clothing and 20 million metres of fabric, and a maximum capacity of 1,000,000 items distributed each week, the M2LOG Centre is the ideal logistics partner for businesses operating in the fashion sector. An innovative and cutting-edge plant in terms of distribution, handling and management systems for the warehouse stock, M2LOG has applied its own standards of qualitative excellence to the lighting systems.
M2LOG has entrusted the initial evaluation of energy requirements, the definition of the preliminary project and the drafting of an investment plan to Sofisolar, a company specialising in energy efficiency services for buildings and which identified the Gewiss lighting solutions as the ideal response to the project's specific requirements. Energy efficiency, sustainability and visual comfort in the workplace are the three prerequisites of the new system with approximately 3400 old generation fluorescent bulbs being replaced with 3000 Gewiss Smart  devices, installed within 4 of the 7 Pollenzo Hubs. Based on an average of 3000 hours’ use per year of the lit spaces, the new technology enables an overall reduction from 547,728 kWh/year to 283,152 kWh/year, equating to a 50% reduction of energy consumption with a saving of approximately 264,576 kWh/year, the equivalent of 52 tons of petrol and 101 tons of CO2.

With this new project in partnership with Gewiss, we have reached our objective to significantly reduce our CO2 emissions, focusing on renewable energy. The same approach aimed at energy efficiency will be gradually taken forward in our network of retail stores”.
